Membership Opportunity Anatomy

It all starts with an opportunity (membership pledge or payment) through the web interface, the internal membership page or entering a membership type payment or pledge.

  1. Account Name: Household of which donor contact is a member  -derived from system fill based on contact's household
  2. Donor Name: linked to donor's contact record--derived from the membership form and looked up to avoid duplication
  3. Amount:  The amount for this particular opportunity (even if it's part of a larger membership amount)  --derived from the payment amount indicated from the membership form or entered membership payment
  4. Close Date:  Date this opportunity was received and processed--derived from date the payment was processed
  5. Recurring Installments:  If the member has chosen to indefinitely continue the membership, 999 will be entered here.  If not the number of installments for the membership will be entered such as 12 for one year of monthly gifts. Derived from click and pledge form when member checks "Automatically renew my membership"
  6. Primary Campaign Source:  This designation ensures the gift is put toward the membership fund.  Derived from type of opportunity and filled in automatically if coming from membership web page or internal page.
  7. SFZC Membership Level: Indicated the level for which the member has either pledged or paid for the current membership year.  Derived from membership category being entered on membership web page or internal page.
  8. Total Membership Pledge: Indicates the total amount a member intends to pay within the membership one-year term.  Derived from Membership Amount field on the membership web page or internal membership page.

Still on the opportunity record, there is payment information to provide more detail.

  1. Payment Channel: Indicates how the payment was received.  This populates automatically from Click and Pledge if the gift is entered on the membership web page or internal membership page.
  2. C&P SKU: Level of membership based on level entered  on the membership web page or internal membership page.
  3. C&P Recurring ID: Refers back to recurring gift set up in C&P.  This is an indicator of recurring payments toward this membership.
  4. Payment Amount Received:  Used to fill in the opportunity amount.

  1. Additional Members:  This information is populated by the Click & Pledge web or external form.  When a member chooses to have additional members as part of his or her membership, they are entered on the form and populate up to three members on the opportunity.
  2. Membership Summary: When these names are filled in and the opportunity is saved it triggers the creation of membership summaries for each member.  The summaries are created and then linked to the opportunity automatically.
  3. Family Line for Membership Letter: the line is created based on the primary donor as well as the members of the household.  It can be used to merge with an acknowledgment letter.

  1. Payments are automatically created for the opportunity and are always paid.
  2. Allocations: Marks membership opportunities for the correct fund and is created automatically based on primary campaign and type of opportunity
  3. Contact Roles: Provides soft credits for other household members even if they are not specified as an additional member.  However, the a household member does not automatically become a member or have a membership summary unless they are specifically added as an additional member.
